I have a great deal of respect for David Belle, both in his role as the founder of parkour and as an athlete and a human being.For nearly a year, I have been trying to think of some way to repay him, to give back some of what I owe him for creating the art that has brought so much good into my life.This is not easy. From what I have read, David Belle does not want to be worshipped. He does not want to be idolized. He sees himself as just another person, doing his best to improve himself and help other people. He doesn't want any kind of reward. I don't know him personally, so a particular gift would be inappropriate.But I think I have come up with an idea that will work. It is something we can all do together, as a worldwide community. It is simple, and easy, but at the same time it could mean a lot, if enough people are willing to participate.Here it is: If you feel that David Belle has touched your life in any way, that his art or his example have helped you to become a better person or led you to something good in life, take a picture of your hand, and e-mail it to AHandforDavidBelle(at)gmail.com. That's it. It takes about sixty seconds.After a month or so, if I've gotten enough pictures, I will compile them into a single image to send to him, as a sign of our respect and appreciation for him as a worldwide community. Nothing fancy, nothing embarrassing, nothing over the top. Just proof that he has made a difference in the world. I'm pretty sure he already knows it, but I'm also pretty sure that's all he ever wanted.If you don't think it's worth the time or effort to take a picture of your hand and send it in, imagine a world without parkour, and ask yourself whether it's the kind of place you want to be. Please. I'd like EVERYONE to participate, and I truly mean EVERYONE. I'd rather have to slave away to deal with 10,000 pictures than end up with only a dozen.

Ich habe sehr großen respekt für David Belle, als Begründer von Parkour, als Athlet aber auch als Mensch. Ist ist ca. 1 Jahr her das ich mir angefangen habe gedanken darüber zu machen, wie ich ihm etwas zurückgeben kann von dem was ich ihm Schulde. Für das erfinden der Kunst die meinem Leben so viel Gutes gebracht hat. Das ist nicht einfach, denn wie mann liest will er nciht angebetet werden. Auch will er nicht Idol für alle sein. Er sieht sich als einen gewöhnlichen Menschen, der immer darum bemüht ist sich zu bessern und anderen zu helfen. Dafür will er keine Belohnung. Da ich ihn nicht persönlich kenne, wäre ein 'bestimmtes' Geschenk unangebracht. Aber mir ist eine Idee gekommen die funktionieren wird. Es ist etwas das wir, als globale Community, gemeinsammachen können. Es ist simple und einfach zu machen, jedoch könnte es bedeutend werden, wenn sihc viele daran beteiligen. Hier meine Idee: Wenn ihr denkt, dass David Belle euer Leben in irgeneiner OFrm berührt hat, das seine Kunst oder Beispiel euch dabei geholfen hat ein besserer Mensch zu werden oder auch zu etwas Gutem im Leben geführt hat, schießt ein Foto von eurer Hand und emailt es an AHandforDavidBelle[at]gmail.com. Das wars, dauert ca. 60 sec. Dann, nach einem monat, falls ich genug Bilder bekomme, werde ich sie zu einem einzigen Bild zusammenfügen und es ihm, als Zeichen unseres Respekts und unseres Dankes, schicken. Nichts schickes, nichts peinliches, nichts übertriebenes. Nur als Beweis dafür, dass er einen Unterschied in der Welt gemacht hat. Ich bin mir relativ sicher das er das schon weiss, aber ich bin mir auch sicher, dass er nie mehr wollte. Wenn ihr denkt das es die Zeit un der Aufwand nicht wert ist, stellt euch eine Welt ohne Parkour vor, und fragt euch ob das ein Ort ist an dem ihr sein wollt. Bitte. Ich würde gerne sehen wie ALLE mitmachen und ich meine wirklich ALLE. Es wäre mir lieber ewig an 10,000 Bildern zu sitzen als nur mit einem Dutzend.
